In the bookcase of almost every Turkish home you will find a book about Finland, “ Finland, The Country of White Lilies” (Ak zambaklar ülkesinde - Finlandya).

Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen airport (Asian side) is named after the world’s first female fighter pilot. Sabiha learned to fly in 1935 at age 23.

There are 237 hamams in Istanbul but only 60 of them are still in use.

The Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı) in operation since 1461, is one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world with 60 streets and 5,000 shops.
