SEVEN HILLS SAGA

Me - the grandmother of two continents

I am a semi-bohemian grandma of two continents from Europe and Asia. My heels are clacking tightly in the markets of my hometown Turku and in the riverbanks of Aura River. At the same time, however, my hair is flowing in the eastern wonders of historic Istanbul and the heavenly turquoise winds of Bosphorus.

My concrete home and my sweetest soul landscape are thus formed by two very different cities of seven hills: the peaceful idyllic little town of Finland, Turku, and the chaotic fascinating metropolis of Turkey, Istanbul – both major and historically great, former capitals of their countries.

This grandmother is accompanied by the stormy winds of Marmara Sea, the turquoise storms of Bosphorus and the lush green mountains of Istanbul’s both continents. The Asian treasures of Anatolia, the wonders of the East and fascinating distant cultures. The past of Mesopotamia, the deep roots of our civilization, and the hint of our history. Also skillful art, fancy museums, and Rumi’s loving poems. Byzantine bazaars, joyfully nutritious food, heavenly scents and charming colors. As well as lovely and captivatingly lively people of Istanbul and their tough trio: Rakı, food and love.

Blog - lovely miracles, real everyday life and small drops of information

With my blog posts, I want to tell you how insanely diverse and wonderfully inspiring Istanbul is in addition to its dazzling history and fascinating beauty. You might find sometimes something familiar in my stories, but also often something new and charmingly captivating – not to forget the real everyday life of Istanbul.

My goal is to tell you about Istanbul realistically in terms of both text and images, so you don’t get disappointed when you’ll arrive there. So, I say “no thanks” to the over-saturated Instagram photos. That’s why I only process my images to the extent that they look as similar as possible to real life – which is, authentic.

It is also interesting to compare these two beautiful cities of mine; both are the landscapes of my mind and attractive in their own unique ways – though the cities will also surprise you with their many astonishing similarities.

But watch out, you may lose yourself to the charming atmosphere of Turku – in the other hand, Istanbul might magnetize you with its spectacular history, uniqueness and liveliness.

Anything is possible in Istanbul – Istanbul is an adventure!
